Learning About Mountain Bike Frames

By Kim Masters

Mountain biking has alot to do with the kind of fram you use. Its speed or durability should depend on the match of bike to activity. Let's discuss the variation of the bike that how it's intended use will affect the kind of frame you need.

A variety of frames are available in different material for the bike to full fill different purpose which directly affect the performance of the bike and weight of the bike. Steel and aluminum frames are available which are heavier and lighter and alloys also affect the weighting capacity of the bike. These frames are mending for fast riding and are finished gently for better performance on the road.

Aluminum is the lightest material which is used in the frames of mountain bikes. The frame and alloys used in mountain bikes are made up from aluminum due to its lighter size and flexibility. The bikes used for free riding and down hill biking are specially made from aluminum because they accept a lot of rough handling and involved in tough condition of mountain biking.

The mountain bike becomes difficult to lift and balance at slower speed when its main frame is larger in size and made up from lighter aluminum. These frames can deliver more speed and can load more weight also have a center of gravity much higher from the ground. Therefore the size of the frame has a direct relation with the performance of the bike.

If we talk about the dirt track biking, the bike with a smaller frame is much lighter to handle and the movement of the bike is more easier while jumping across a ditch. If your aim is free riding than it is much better to get a bike with a more smaller frame.

The rear suspension is very difficult to include in a mountain bike with a relatively complex frames since the frame has to handle all types of suspension that is installed. Therefore inclusion of rear suspension is a complex addition in the main frame of the mountain bike.

The mountain biker must know that the frame of the bike is the key to the best performance of the mountain bike and selecting the right frame is another key factor for gaining experience in biking. And in interchanging different bikes the biker must know what different type of frames differ in different kinds of dirty and mountaineer tracks for biking.
