All About The Game Of Airsoft

By Charles Weaver

Have you ever heard of a game called Airsoft? This s a sport where you can simulate battle or combat as though you were in the military or law enforcement, but without real guns. The guns and other equipment are airsoft items.

The game, developed in Japan, is massively popular. In fact in Japan, it is popular in part because firearms are so hard to get there. There are many regulations and laws; your average person cannot simply purchase a gun legally.

This is why the alternative of Airsoft was developed. If you trace the popularity of this game, you'll find that it enjoys the greatest popularity in East Asian countries such as Japan, Taiwan, China and South Korea.

Airsoft is kind of like paintball, in that you are pretending to be in armed conflict and 'shooting' at the other side. But unlike paintball, Airsoft has no visible way to tell if your shot has hit someone. It's very tricky to tell, because there's no paint splatter or anything. You might not even know unless someone yelled because the hit hurt.

The players are supposed to make up for this by being on the honor system and admitting when they are hit. If you are hit in Airsoft, you are supposed to raise your gun and call out "hit!" Then you go out of play briefly until the medic on your side can revive you and return you to the game. If your weapon is hit, it can be tricker. Rules for handling this situation vary.

If a weapon is hit, generally the player has to go out of play. It's like the player themselves being hit. If the player has a sidearm or second weapon though, this can make a difference. Then the person can use the sidearm.

Airsoft players can choose from among three types of guns: gas, electric, and spring. The least expensive of these is spring. If you get a spring gun with a high FPS though it will cost a pretty penny.

The AEG, or electric, airsoft gun is battery powered and automatic. These are not all that powerful though. For the most effective play, get the most powerful gun. That would be a gas powered gun. Gasses that are used to power the guns include high pressure air (HPA), carbon dioxide, green or red gas, and propane.
