Endura, The newest Company in Biking Clothing

By Micheal Mitchum

Over the past 4 years as cycling as a sport/pastime/commuting activity has grown massively over all markets and some brands have managed the growth better than others non more so than Endura.

Endura were amongst the first to have a a Business to Business (B2B) web site (this still rates as one of the best around) and have seen growth in all aspects of the cycling clothing apparel and accessory markets that they cover.

Their Hummvee range of Baggy shorts, trousers, 's and jerseys have rapidly become a cycling industry standard and every summer season sees a new colour or product such as the Hummvee Lite added to their ever expanding portfolio. Brands such as Altura, Polaris and the like have had to look up to and get as close to as possible and whilst Zyro who own Altura would argue that with their Ascent and Discovery ranges are a serious competitior most of the big stores see Endura as a must have brand.

Already highly successful in the MTB field with the aforementioned Hummvee ranges Endura took a bold leap last summer when they released their Equipe range on to the market. Equipe ( a French word meaning Team and pronounced "eh-keep") is a mid to high end range of road clothing, some lines have been tweaked from existing versions but the majority are completely new. Endura have been quite bold with their dealer network on the Equipe range insisting that you had to take on the full range rather than dipping in and out to suit. Initially I was skeptical about this approach but found that the theory was sound as there was hardly a style, a colour or a size that wasn't re-ordered during the course of a season.

So what's nevertheless doing the enterprise this occassion of year? Hummvee shorts (a given!) Hummvee jerseys (all colours except the white) and the new Hummvee Lite short is picking up well. Within the Equipe range their Criterium Bibshort, all colours with the Equipe jersey as well as a surprising amount with the Equipe Helium jacket. Quietly selling nicely inside the background are their well priced Spectrum, Piranha and Stingray sunglasses.
