Options To With An Aluminum Handgun Cases

By Rodney Greyling

A huge consideration for owners of hand guns is safely transporting their weapon to the shooting range or local gun club. Gun owners know that the trick actors pull in movies of sticking the bun in their belt is just fiction, this is not only unsafe and unwise, in some states it is illegal. If you want to carry your handgun in a safe and secure manner, an aluminum handgun case is the way to go.

Instead of making a quick or snap decision, there are a few things you should look at. Although cost is a consideration quality is an area where you cannot afford to compromise. Make sure that the case you get gives you the best quality for the money spent.

The first thing you need to look at is the construction of the case. Carefully study the handle attachment. A strong secure case will not be very convenient if the handle falls off. Make sure that the handle material is of good quality, and that the attachment is strong and secure. Next check the hinges of the case the same way. Make sure that they will hold up to wear and tear.

Take a close look at the locks and latches on the case. Make sure that the latch mechanism operates easily. You do not want to have to wrestle with the latches every time you unlock you case. Inspect to see that the dials on the locks are easy to turn and that the numbers line up the way they are supposed to. If the locks and latches do not operate properly when the case is new the problem will only get worse over time.

The latches on your case should also be tamper-proof. Many cases now come with anti-pry latches which will keep someone from being able to force the lock open. The more difficult it is to break into the gun case, the less likely that a thief will bother with it.

Then take a look at the interior of the case. There should be sufficient padding to house your weapon and hold it in place inside the case. If you drop the case or bump it against something you do not want your gun knocking around inside. Look for a padding with a minimum of 80 psi compression foam. The higher the psi number, the more firm the foam is, and the more secure it will hold your gun.

Think also about the size of your weapon. Check to see that your handgun can easily fit inside your case. Of course, you don't want to pay for a larger case than you really need. Inspect the interior dimensions of the gun case to be sure your gun will fit inside.

Selecting the right aluminum handgun case is not a difficult thing to do. It does require a little bit of shopping around, but in the long run the time and effort you spend will pay off in the quality of your case. You will have a case that is not only functional, it is durable and versatile.
