Is The Alchemist No Better Than A Pseudo Scientist

By Geneva Anthony

The common perception of an alchemist is that these are people that are nothing more than pseudo scientists that are involved with converting lead into the precious metal called gold. Such pseudo scientists are considered to be people that meddle with mysticism and with some kind of magic.

To a great extent, there is something in these beliefs but to be more objective, one will realize that the alchemist is really a person trying their best to discover the truth about nature. These people have actually been involved in such activities long before any tools or even scientific procedures were available.

These people were relying on nothing more than basic rules of thumb and on traditional means as well as on observations of a basic kind. They used alchemy based symbols and different processes which were related to how spiritual practices could be developed. They were not concerned too much with any kind of physical transformations.

The truth of the fact is that alchemy is also considered to share many things in common with astrology. If you want to know what an alchemist is, then you must have prior knowledge about substances can be transformed into other substances. However, you do not need to understand everything about physics or chemistry in order to understand more about such people. However, you should realize that alchemy depends to a large extent on transmutation of a base metal into gold.

Alchemy involves four different elements and it also relies on principles of geometry and geology. This is a field that has continuously evolved over a very long time and it began when religions got involved in metallurgy and in medicine. Later, it began to evolve into an independent field.

This is a field that has seen a lot of evolution including in the fields of charlatanism and mysticism. In addition, it has been instrumental in providing us with an understanding about both medicine and chemistry. Among the leading alchemists of our time, some names stand out including those like Sir Thomas Browne, Sir Isaac Newton, Roger Bacon and even Saint Thomas Aquinas.

Alchemy is said to have begun in the ancient Egyptian times and has since then evolved dramatically, Thoth is the founder of this field and his 42 Books of Knowledge covered a variety of topics including those such as alchemy, medicine and law.
