The state acknowledge the importance of carrying firearms to protect one's life. However, it is strictly regulated as well. There are many things to consider before granting one the authorization to carry a firearm and does not give anyone the right to shoot unless their life is in the line. Before anyone can get concealed weapons permit Minnesota, he needs to persuade the authorizing agency of his worth.

The applicant must be at least 21 years old. Supporting documents must be provided so that the application will be processed. The applicant must have no criminal records as well. This may include petty crimes like misdemeanor.

Complete the course. One must complete the firearms training and get his certification. This is done to educate the applicants of the instances when they can carry the firearms. They are also made to understand their rights and legal responsibility of carrying firearms. Only certified instructors are allowed to hold the training.

The documentation must also be complete. This include the complete application, a copy of the training certificate, a copy of the driver's license, the state ID card or passport photo and application fee. This must all be completed prior to the processing of the application.

After all the necessary document are submitted, the processing will take up to 30 days. This will allow the agency to cross check the information and decide if the request will be granted or denied. The permits needs to be renewed every five years. Most of the time, they only ask for renewal fee. One may check with the issuing authority to determine if there are special requirements to be completed during renewal.

Always bring the permits and a photo identification with you. Remember that while you can carry firearms, you are still not allowed to show it in the public whether deliberately or not. You are also not allowed to bring them inside establishments that prohibits them. That is punishable by law.

Remember that concealed weapons permit Minnesota only gives you the right to carry it and not use it carelessly. You still have responsibility and can only use it on emergency cases and for protection only.
