Cat-fishing in ponds is a fashionable sport and a handy way to catch a very nice dinner too!

There are three species of catfish in most channels of water. There are the blue, channel and flat-head catfish and if you are looking for the most likely catfish to hook, then search no further than the channel.

However, if you are looking to hook the real big fish, the blue and flat-head catfish are the real catches.

Keep as quiet as possible

Just because the Catfish are underwater, their smelling and hearing senses are top-notch, built to evade any possible danger.

Keep to the bank

To avoid any unnecessary sound, keep out of the water. Get your bait out as far as it will go by casting as long as you can and this will ensure your hook gets to where the catfish are swimming.

Most Cats are bottom of pond creatures, hiding at the pond bed, be it in a reservoir, pond or channel.

This is why pro anglers will always recommend you cast your line to the center of the pond, and make sure that your line reaches the pond base where you'll find the best fish just waiting for you.

Try to choose your fishing spot to be near a bridge or other large structure, as you will be more than likely to find the cats there.

Underwater Plant food

If you are Angling for catfish in the daylight, the places the cats love best are the regions with underwater plants or vegetation.

Your main targets here are nocturnal, so it will secrete itself from its catchers in daylight hours while searching for food.

The undergrowth offer it the perfect shelter from enemies, as well as from your fishing line.
