The Real Meaning of a Commuter Bike

By Rob Sutter

There's something to be said about someone who's so devoted to an interest that they would stake their life on it. This is the case for Caycee Cullen, who constantly rides her bike to her office from her home. This isn't one of the first instances that it happened, either; this method of commuting has gone one for Cullen for 17 years and it's a form of travel that she keep close to her heart. It's amazing what great power a commuter bike has on people and for good reason, too.

Like with any sport, putting a commuter bike to use can produce an adrenaline rush that the rider will want to last for as long as possible. There's nothing quite like the feeling of riding a bike for ten minutes down a street, with many drops and winds in the road, without halting. It's a sense of flow that people do not want to have broken. The risk may be heightened if bikes are ridden in areas condensed with cars and pedestrians but for most bikers, it's all part of the fun for them.

No one can deny the eco-friendliness that comes with using a commuter bike, or any bicycle for that matter, to use. A company like Linus, which specially works in selling vintage and European bicycles, possesses a green message that, keeping in mind the business they strive in, would want to bring to the forefront. Linus has given their thoughts on several stories, including one that spoke about Denmark and its formation of a superhighway exclusive to cyclists. This is a story that will, without question, let people know that there are forms of travel better suited to one's health.

One would be lying if they said that Copenhagen is the only area where bicycling is heavily promoted. Cullen resides in San Francisco and it is here that welcome mats possessing bicycle-related imagery have been set on surfaces. Market Street specifically has become witness to a great amount of these mats being placed and due to these, there has been a great spike in cyclists. The Municipal Transportation Authority showed survey results, claiming that the amount of bicyclists has grown by 71% over the course of five years to this day.

A strong degree of influence in tandem with a proactive approach may help the aforementioned 71% cyclist rate spike to an even greater level. Cycling is a popular activity for many people and thanks to the amount of health benefits that it offers, more and more people seem to understand and take part in it. Forms of exercise will most likely be taken up if they are as fun to do as they are beneficial; bike riding fits the bill quite nicely. An adult can enjoy this form of sport as much as a child can, so there's truly no excuse for any able person not to take part in climbing upon the seat.
