Abcs Of Dirt Track Racing Sprint Cars

By Patty Goff

In the United States, the first edition of the Indianapolis 500 was held in 1911, the same year the Rally Monte-Carlo was started. The 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race took place for the first time in 1923, the first Grand Prix of Monaco was held in 1929. Motorsport is a sub-category and a generic name for sports where the participants compete with cars. Unlike dirt track racing sprint cars from town to town, all traffic is prohibited on the road sector. To work around some villages, the organizers set up wood deviations.

On roads and tracks, we find the world rally championship (with the famous race car rally Monte-Carlo, created in 1911), but also tests rally, the best known is the Dakar Rally. Gears are designed exclusively for racing and there are various categories of cars or touring. Several international and national federations manage the many races that are divided into categories and formulas according to the type of car, power and the engine type.

These studies are very expensive and the financial statement of Grand Prix is catastrophic. Thus relocates the 1907 and 1908 editions of Dieppe to much less expensive countries. British, Belgians and Germans are also establishing annual competitions that are more or less comparable to the major Grand Prix forming the foundations of true calendar events.

They have 102 registered drivers and only 32 make it. The following year, the pioneering racing event was organized: it's Paris-Bordeaux-Paris. Emile Levassor ended the first test on June 15 on a Panhard in 48 hours and 48 minutes. But there was no competition because his car was a two-seater while the regulations required a minimum of four seats with as many passengers than seats. It was a Peugeot driven by Paul Koechlin who won in 59 hours 48 minutes.

Other forms of racing are touring, where the world championship is called the World Touring Championship, and it competes vehicles that are basically designed for highway driving, and sports-car contests. Other forms include rallies, in which most routes run through the dirt roads, such as the desert. The biggest rally in the category is called the Dakar Rally, which originally ran between Paris to Dakar.

Offroad is a motor sport in which competitors drive on the terrain. The branches you can compete in are: Formula Offroad, Monster Race, Biltrial and Challenge. Everyone competes for example with standard vehicles, sports variants or formula vehicles. Rally called a car race which covers a relatively long distance and often lasts for several days. The vehicles used are registered that run in different classes depending on trim level.

This type of competition is run with different types of vehicles; rally, rallycross- and racing cars, etc., and the driver is alone in his vehicle. Very spectacular is back racing for trucks. Hillclimb with trucks was organized in the late eighties up the mountain in many countries. Some races compete with the help of a map and participants drive through unknown road at a given time.

The formula for the Gordon Bennett Cup quickly reached its limits because it requires presets. Car manufacturers, however, manage to repeal the limit of a maximum of three cars per country. The name Grand Prix means a prestigious automobile event. This term was first used for horseracing and cycling events for the award given to the winners. In 1901, the Grand Prix was organized Southwest: Pau played around, it counted as the first edition of Grand Prix de Pau.
