Guides In Keeping Yourself Safe During An Alligator Tour

By Christine King

Alligators are the crocodilian reptiles with black color or dark brown one for most adults and have white undersides. There is no known record about their average lifespan while they are native only to China and United States. They live in environments with freshwater like lakes, wetlands, ponds, swamps, rivers and marshes and plant diversity is increased with holes they made.

They improve also the ecology through feeding on those animals causing severe damages in coastal wetlands like the grazing muskrat and coypu. Louisiana alligator tour is available for you to go and see these animals and reptiles. The following are several guides for keeping yourself safe while you enjoy watching them during your tour.

They are afraid of humans but feeding them with your food other than natural prey make them seek out people instead. So do not feed them and keep your food to yourself instead so they will not approach anyone and destroy their natural habits. This also applies for other animals around the area since they may learn to depend on humans.

Be careful during mating seasons, usually happens at spring and summer months, as they do peculiar things and become a little edgy. They only leave their territories at this time to look out for females so larger alligators may be more frequently seen in unusual areas. Just give them space, leave them alone and ignore them.

Keep your distance even when they seem slow and lazy while lounging in their spot as they can move really fast. You are still close enough if they lunge at you or hiss so sixty feet at least is needed to be your distance from them. Their babies or their nest should never be disturbed because their mother is always nearby and ready in protecting them.

Their habitats have cool and refreshing areas of water which could entice anyone to swim while riding the boat. If you cannot see your legs, arms and feet though then avoid swimming there as there might be alligators nearby. Stick to crystal clear and shallower waters instead as these are safer areas.

Be careful when you fish near their habitat because alligators would try and grab that hooked fish which can caught them in your line. Avoid fishing in areas near the water edge with heavy vegetation where they prefer to stay. Catching them with a line is dangerous and is not something you would want as you could get dragged down.

If you like taking your pet dogs when boating or fishing in these areas, keep them on leash specially when you disembark the boat. This is to prevent them from running off alone particularly during mating seasons where they can become prey. And it would put you in danger also when chasing them as you may not notice your surroundings well and disturb the animals.

Play your trip at these places by having nearby cottages or hotels booked in advance along with the boat you might rent. Guided tours are offered by others for sightseeing those animals living there. Check reviews made from their previous customers to determine the better one.
