So what you need to keep your pond water clean and healthy is a good filter and the water needs to be well oxygenized, you can do this by installing some sort of water feature or a pump.
It may interest you to know that if your pon water is not up to standards then your Koi could get parasites.
After having clean water the second thing that is very important is that your Koi live in the right sized pond.
For you pond to be a good size it needs to be atleast three feet deep. And no less than 1 thousand gallons.
It may interest you to know that you should only have one Koi per 200 gallons so if you have 10 Koi your pond should be able to hold atleast two thousand gallons of water.
When it comes to Koi disease most diseases fall into one of three categories. Virus, parasite and bacterial disease.
When it comes to symptoms that there is something wrong your look out for unbalanced Koi, Koi not eating and Koi that are rubbing against pond objects.
A few other symptoms that something is wrong is, puffy eyes, fin rott, colour loss, and weight loss.
If you notice some of these conditions it is a good idea to check your Koi for parasites. Parasites are invisible to the eye so you will have to check under a microscope.
It's not nice to know that some Koi diseases will wipe out Koi very quickly with hardly any symptoms, although this is quite rare.
