First and foremost, riding a bicycle can create a healthy environment. Obviously bicycles are lesser complicated when you compare it with cars. And since it is simpler, it also has lesser impact and effect to the environment. You get no emissions from your bicycles that is why our air is kept clean. Bicycling can also further benefit your health. Talking about mortality, 16.6% of all deaths were due to obesity in the year 2000, a figure roughly equal to those caused by cigarette smoking in the same year. The risk of heart disease and stroke are lessened since you get to lose weight easily and improve cardiovascular fitness. You also have a better and improved circulation that greatly minimizes aches and pains, and there are joint movements included that can reduce the risk of arthritis. The immune system is also heightened in order to fight more against a lot of illnesses. Cortisol, which has been closely associated with the mysterious Syndrome X that is a cluster of conditions and symptoms which includes heart disease, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, insulin resistance, and diabetes, can be also reduced in the blood through bicycling.

In addition, bicycling can give benefits to the economy. All of us know that bicycles are lesser expensive than cars, starting from its maintenance. You do not even need to buy gasoline which is very expensive, like what cars used, in order to make it work. More to that, it can also cut on the bills you spend for health care since you get to exercise while doing it. An obese person can reach an expense of $1500 more in medical costs per year than a fit person can pay, that's according to some studies. Moreover you get to have lesser Medicare and Medicaid payments if you are fit, thus taxpayer dollars are lesser too.
