The Quirky Construction Of Beer Pong Tables

By Wendy Salas

In the houses of many frat boys and other university students, you may see their personalities reflected in their homemade beer pong tables. If you are asking yourself what this is, read on to find out about this national pastime that is a favorite among young people.

Beer pong is a sport for anyone who does not want to have to don a uniform, and is looking to get a little rowdy. The good news is that players will laugh a lot and feel a bit more tipsy as the game progresses. The bad news is that they may end up soaked in foamy liquid!

Equipment for play is easy to find and inexpensive. Little plastic balls, good friends, a large quantity of beer, and a table are needed to conduct a game. If you have trouble finding the last item, its time to access your creativity!

If you have a table that is normally used for other sorts of games you may use that to play, but it is bound to be saturated with spilled beer as the night goes on! If that does not work for you then any number of spontaneously constructed surfaces may suffice. People have been known to get out the snow shovels and improvise a flat surface for playing. At least it keeps the drinks cold!

One may be constructed out of boards and supported by metal, preferably collapsible, legs. The advantage of this is that its purpose can be reserved solely for this often sloppy activity, and owners can feel free to decorate it however they want. Some choose to paint circles where the cups are placed, others get competitive and paint team names on the side they normally play on.

Once an appropriate surface is found or constructed, playing commences. Players often play in teams of two and stand at one end of the table facing the other team. Nine cups are set down and filled partially with beer. The players then take turns throwing ping pong balls into the cups on the opposing side. If they make it, the other team has to drink the beer. The first team to sink the ball into all nine cups wins, and challenges the next players in line.

Beer pong tables are often funny, absurd, colorful, or raunchy. Whatever the size or shape, they are bound to reflect the enthusiasm and spirit of their makers. Read more about: Beer Pong Tables
