Why You Should Choose Metal Pistol Cases

By Shannon Hilson

Unless you are the proud owner of a concealed carry weapons permit, you are not going to get away with simply holstering your weapon as you leave the house. Even if you do have a permit, you still need a way to protect and secure your pistol when you do not have it holstered. For those instances you need to own a pistol case. If you are interested in the most protection and security available, you should consider a metal pistol case.

These days metal pistol cases are available in many sizes. Their prices range from $35 to $100 depending on the features included and the quality of the case. All of this depends on the size and the features that are to be included.

Metal pistol cases are designed to keep your weapon secure and safe and keep the contents from moving inside the case once the lid of the case is closed. Even if the case is dropped accidentally there would be no harm done to your pistol as the impact would be absorbed by the case. Generally pistol cases have an internal foam lining to hold your gun in place.

Another feature that needs to be considered is the weather resistance of the case. If you are ever caught out in the rain with your pistol you need to ensure that your pistol remains dry. Most of the cheaper cases have a tendency to leak when it pours hard. This may not only get your pistol all wet but may also cause deterioration of the foam that lines the inside of the case. Without proper care the foam may get musty and might start to get moldy.

One reason that metal cases are desirable is that they provide the maximum protection for your weapon. Cloth cases offer convenience, but they do not offer protection beyond keeping the pistol from becoming scratched. Metal cases, on the other hand, are designed to keep the contents of the case from receiving any damage.

The best part about metal pistol cases is that you can get all of that protection without having a lot of extra weight to carry around. Metals like aluminum provide a great deal of protection, but are very light weight. They are durable, they don't rust or corrode, and they are very affordable.

One other area where metal cases beat their competition is in the area of security. Metal cases are by far a greater theft deterrent than any of their cheaper counterparts. Many of the newer cases come with pry-resistant latches, and the cases themselves are not easy to get into once they are locked.

On the other hand cloth cases can be very easily cut open and even plastic cases can be very easily cracked and broken into to get the pistol out of the case. This does not happen with metal pistol cases. When thieves are on the lookout for something to steal they would certainly go for something that is easy to open. When they encounter a locked metal pistol case, they would most probably move onto an easier target.

While no sure way is present to guarantee the complete security and safety of your pistol, there are various ways to alleviate the risks involved. Using a high quality metal pistol case to transport your weapon is one big step in that direction.
