The Pacific Northwest is blessed to have some of the most beautiful scenery in the world. Oregon is one of the states that Mother Nature has blessed with beautiful landscapes. Mount Hood is one of the distinguished landmarks in this state. The peaks are covered by snow year round making it a beautiful scene. Oregon is lucky enough to have the rugged coastal areas as well as beautiful inland scenes to make it truly a remarkable place. The lifestyle in Oregon is laid back and relaxed. The residents are friendly and welcome tourists.

Situated between the equator and the North Pole, Salem's climate is surprisingly Mediterranean, making it an ideal venue for open-air markets and outdoor events that grace this capital city with summertime fun and winter holiday cheer. Both adults and children alike enjoy the interactive village inspired by Salem resident and creator of the Erector set, known as A.C. Gilbert's Discovery Village. For nature lovers, the Minto-Brown Island Park provides 900 acres to bike, rollerblade or just stroll down miles of beautiful paths that are a heartbeat away from the action in this modern city which still respects its heritage.

Portland is blessed to be one of the most beautiful cities in the United States. Portland is built up against the hills and the Willamette River flows from the city of Salem to wind through downtown Portland. Driving across the many bridges into town creates a scene that is second to none. Waterfront Park is the center of many concerts and other activities. This park is located close to the down town area. There are miles of river front areas to walk on and rosebushes are everywhere. Portland is known as the city of roses and to celebrate this, a rose festival is held every June.

Moving south, you can fish for some trout in Crater Lake which is reportedly the deepest freshwater lake in North America. View the beautiful vistas of the Cascade Mountain range, then visit some of the Central region's stunning national parks where outdoor activities are plentiful. A key attraction is the Newberry Volcanic Flow Monument which contains an abundance of obsidian crystals and geodes.

Eastern Oregon has long been a part of American history due to the Lewis and Clark Expedition. Lighthouses dot the coast and are a must see attraction. The Oregon coast boasts mild temperatures nearly year round, which make whale watching an ideal activity. Hell's Canyon offers white water rafting for the adventurous. After a busy day, make sure to stop for amazing fresh seafood caught straight from the Pacific.

Before traveling to Portland, stop in the Hood River Valley where Mount Hood and The Columbia Gorge provide a wonderful photo opportunity. The beautiful Columbia River winds through this area as you head to Portland. The Portland Metro is a vibrant place where a multitude of artistic and cultural activities can be found. Take in an art exhibit at the Portland Art Museum, or stroll through the Victorian architecture of the Pittman Mansion.

Many family friendly activities are also found in Oregon. The Oregon Zoo with its vast array of animals is an experience that never fails to please. Peace and tranquility reign supreme at the Portland Classical Chinese Garden with its ponds and flowering cherry trees. Those of all ages will enjoy the music of the Oregon Symphony at the Portland Performance Center of the Arts.
