Things To Consider When Purchasing Carp Fishing Alarms

By Kenneth Raggerty

When fishing, especially at night for very long periods of time, carp fishing alarms is widely accepted as an essential piece of equipment. Some trips can last days or on occasion even weeks, depending on your love of the sport, so you need ones that will be affordable, effective and durable as well as reliable.

The biggest question is how affordable are these pieces of equipment and should one buy what they can afford or hold off until they can afford the best. If your a fanatic and like to go on a regular basis then there are very good alarms that are extremely affordable.

It's really a matter of preference, when starting out you may just need a cheap version, for those who have been catching big fish for a while may decide on an upgrade, or may just feel like treating themselves to a model that has more features than their older versions.

The very basic type model is probably affordable for anyone who is an angler, usually takes two batteries and screws on to the top of a rod rest or rod pod, it just has a basic buzzer, sometimes with volume control although there are still a few very cheap ones on the market that is just one tone, with no volume control.

As you move up the list of models, and there are probably more than one hundred different makes, models and types out there on the market now, you will find more features as the price range goes up.

Mid range models tend to have the ability to control loudness and tone, which can come in handy if your sleeping as you can set the tone to a pitch that is likely to awaken you when a fish takes the bait.

The more expensive products obviously has the most features, even though they are extremely expensive for what they are most anglers consider it money well spent. Features can include total waterproof in case it falls into water, shock proof which protects against knocks or accidental drops. Also better volume and tone control with a much higher and deeper pitch available.

When thinking about purchasing carp fishing alarms, although the less expensive ones have less features, they still perform the job you want them to do, detect bites. The best thing to do is purchase within your budget, the most important thing to do is to enjoy your angling experience.
