The Summertime and How a City Bike Can Help

By Rob Sutter

We are currently within November and I don't see city bike usage going up anytime soon. Not many people are going to be keen on riding in the cold unless they have no choice whatsoever or have absolutely no other way to travel. With the weather continuously becoming bitter, I don't feel as though these bikes will have any other place apart from a shed. Until the springtime comes to life, maybe it's time to plan for that.

As soon as I have a city bike in my hands, I want to make sure that there are places made for cycling. After all, cycling authorities such as Linus aren't in the business simply to sell bicycles and they know that there are areas in the world tailor made for this hobby. Enter San Francisco, where biking is seemingly more common than anyplace else. There are over 40,000 commuters utilizing sixty different roads. People can get involved and travel in an area where commuter biking is seemingly the norm.

You should consider just how other locations are starting to mold in order to accomodate bicyclists. A number of months ago, it was told that a series of superhighways were about to be implemented into Copenhagen, a subsection of Denmark. It's hard to argue that Copenhagen is a haven of sorts for commuters. It's also an example, in my eyes, as to where this hobby can go once enough years have come to pass.

While we're on the subject, I think it's pertinent to bring up just how separate countries have adopted this method of travel as well. Sweden recently brought to light its plan to construct a major road which would connect one city to another. This particular road would be exclusive to cyclists, displaying just how far the idea can go in terms of geological scope. The effect has snowballed over the course of time and it shows here.

These superhighways, without question, promote a great living style and a carbon footprint can easily be reduced as a result. It's something to take into consideration when thinking about city bikes during the springtime and summertime months. One should be in prime condition and it can get to that point through casual cycling. The best thing is that this can be done by just about anyone and planning for those very months has never looked so gratifying.
